The new generation of the popular Superb was introduced less than a year ago. Now the time has come for the Sportline version, which traditionally offers the sporty flair of a revised chassis and a wealth of equipment in addition to generous interior space, to present itself. Take a look at 5 things that are guaranteed to catch your eye.
Sportline versions have held a firm place in the Škoda model range for many years. They offer customers a taste of the sporty DNA of the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker without compromising on comfort. The Sportline version is available on the Octavia, Kodiaq, Karoq, Enyaq and Elroq models. Now, finally, the Superb has been added.
Design with a sporty flair
The first thing that strikes you is clearly the design. The new Superb is a very elegant car in both bodywork styles. The front and rear of the car are designed to visually expand the car and further emphasise its grandeur. The sloping roofline of the liftback version combines balanced proportions with excellent aerodynamics. This, incidentally, has improved by a full 15% since the last generation.
The Sportline version's usual glossy black accessories fit the car like a glove. With the black grille surround, the line in the lower grille and the splitters underneath, even a standing Superb looks like it can't wait for a dynamic ride. The second-generation Martix-LED headlights come standard, as do the 18-inch polished anthracite Vela wheels with matte black aerodynamic covers. As an option, customers can choose from two 19-inch wheels.
Generous exterior and interior space
The new Superb has grown quite a lot. The liftback version is 43 millimetres longer and the estate is 40 millimetres longer, which means only one thing. More interior space for the crew. In the rear seats, passengers have up to 8 millimetres more headroom than in the previous generation Superb. Not to mention leg and knee room. The Superb has always excelled in these metrics. In addition, the fourth generation has added 30 litres of extra boot space in the estate version. This brings the total volume to a full 690 litres, which is traditionally the top in its class.
However, the Superb Sportline's huge interior space is not all that will impress you. The crew can look forward to specific equipment that's cool.
Interior in a dynamic spirit
Inside, in addition to generous space, you'll find a sporty cabin with great seats. These have integrated head restraints and distinctive lateral guidance for excellent body support on twisty roads. As usual, however, the seats combine their sportiness with comfort, so you won't be bothered by their higher sidewalls on longer journeys. On the contrary, the seats represent a pleasant connection with the car and provide a lot of information about its behaviour. The new three-spoke steering wheel and the interior décor, parts of which combine a carbon effect with elements coated in Suedia, a material reminiscent of exclusive brushed leather, are also superb. Inside, the pedals with steel covers and the black headliner add to the sporty atmosphere. That's all great, but the best thing about the new Superb Sportline is clearly the way it drives!
Great chassis and power to spare
The fourth generation Superb has taken huge strides in terms of handling and comfort. This is no evolution with new body shapes, but a truly premium-riding car. The Superb is very quiet in the interior, stable at high speeds and floaty on bumps without distracting shock from the dampers.
In the Sportline version, the excellent basis is further enhanced by a 15-millimetre lowered sports chassis and progressive steering as standard. Optionally, the Superb Sportline can also have the advanced DCC+ Sport chassis with a wide range of shock absorber stiffness settings.
With it, the car is beautifully agile on twisty roads despite its longer wheelbase. The adaptive chassis actively limits longitudinal and lateral roll. The Superb Sportline is fully focused on your driving experience and the smile on your lips. Especially when you choose the combination of the 2.0 TSI 195 kW engine and all-wheel drive. However, other engines are also available - the 1.5 TSI petrol four-cylinder with 110 kW and the 2.0 TDI diesel four-cylinder with 110 kW or 142 kW.
The new Superb Sportline perfectly combines attractive looks, interior space, rich equipment and a dynamic ride that will grab the heart of any fan of twisty roads. You'll be surprised how many people along the road will look back at this car in Carmine Red Metallic with an appreciative smile on their lips.
The same smile you'll have behind the wheel.
