The Fabia and Kamiq Monte Carlo are the gateway to the world of Škoda cars with a sporty touch. Oliver Solberg shows on the circuit in Latvia that these are practical cars that also bring joy to the driver.

Oliver Solberg once started his rally career in Latvia. He recently returned to Latvia as a WRC2 World Rally Championship competitor. On that occasion, he sat behind the wheel of several Škoda cars on the beautiful Biķernieki track.

After driving the electric Enyaq Coupé RS, one of the highlights of the brand's range of sports cars, he also tested a pair of Fabia and Kamiq Monte Carlo cars, which are, for a change, a gateway to this world.

With the Fabia, Oliver Solberg especially appreciates the progress it has made over four generations. "The first thing you notice is how much the Fabia has matured. It has a longer wheelbase than the first generation Octavia," says the driver, mentioning the practical side of the car as well: "It's spacious, stable and comfortable. That's very important on long journeys."

The Kamiq is even more practical, he says. He highlights the 400-litre boot and the truly spacious cabin. But the Monte Carlo version does not forget about the sporty atmosphere: "The sporty interior looks beautiful. The driving position is excellent, the seats are comfortable and they support you well in the corners," says the rally driver.

He also appreciates the rich equipment of the cars. Of course, the Monte Carlo models are equipped with modern assistance systems and other various practical and comfort features for example, the Matrix-LED headlights on the Kamiq. Both models can also have a powerful four-cylinder 1.5 TSI under the bonnet. "It offers a really great ride," says Oliver Solberg.

"The Monte Carlo is a family, a great driving experience and a really handsome look," says Oliver Solberg, summing up his impressions of the two Škoda models with a sporty touch.
