The Rajd Dolnośląski, which took place this weekend (7th to 8th October) in Polanica-Zdrój, was the fifth round of the Polish Rally Championship and asphalt event with around 160 kilometres of competitive distance in 12 special stages.
It was expected to be the rally in which Grzegorz Grzyb, who was driving a ŠKODA FABIA R5 for the first time this season, would clinch the championship. But in a dramatic rally, it was his fellow FABIA R5 driver Filip Nivette, who won his second event of the season. Grzyb had been in a strong position, before a big accident on the penultimate stage saw him eventually nurse his resilient FABIA R5 through the final stage cross the line in third place.
