The RallyRACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada is the 12th round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) 2016 and takes place this weekend (13th to 16th October) in and around Salou in north-eastern Spain. Consisting of 19 stages and around 321 kilometres of competitive distance, it is the only mixed surface event on the WRC calendar.
It is also a favourite rally of the ŠKODA FABIA R5 as well, with the cars filling the top four positions in the WRC2 standings at last year’s event. And there is no shortage of ŠKODA Customer Teams looking to secure a similar result this year too.
Teemu Suninen (Team Oreca) is currently second in the WRC2 standings, while the veteran German Armin Kremer (BRR Baumschlager Rallye & Racing) holds sixth position in the championship so far. Belgian Ghislain de Mevius is representing the Ice Pol Racing Team, while Italian Max Redina is in a car prepared and run by Motorsport Italia. Frenchman Julien Maurin is in a 2C Compétition FABIA R5, while Norwegian Ole Christian Veiby and Dutchman Bernhard ten Brinke are driving for Printsport Oy and Wevers Motorsport respectively.
