The first event of the FIA World Rally Championship 2017 is the Rallye Monte Carlo and the ŠKODA Motorsport team, the reigning WRC2 champion, is back to defend its title. ‘The Queen of Rallies’ is always an imposing event to start the season, with 17 special stages and 382 kilometers of competitive distance for cars to contend with on both asphalt and snow.
For ŠKODA Motorsport, there are three FABIA R5s competing in and around Monaco. Jan Kopecký / Pavel Dresler are back again, and joining them are the Norwegians Andreas Mikkelsen / Anders Jæger. For Mikkelsen, the event marks a return to the ŠKODA rally family, after four years at the now disbanded Volkswagen WRC team, and it is exciting to see how he performs. Finally, Pontus Tidemand / Jonas Andersson are competing, officially under the ŠKODA Motorsport II moniker and not scoring points for the WRC2 championship this time.
It’s a thrilling weekend and you can follow all the action right here on the ŠKODA Motorsport website with our exclusive photo gallery.
