› All-electric concept vehicle Škoda Enyaq Coupé RS features innovative technology as well as body parts and interior components made from sustainable materials
› Škoda’s battery-electric flagship transfers the emotions of a competition vehicle to the brand’s RS performance road car models

Mladá Boleslav, 22 August 2024 – Škoda Motorsport introduces the Škoda Enyaq RS Race: The new concept car is equipped with a roll cage and racing seats fully complying with the high standards of the International Automobile Federation (FIA). In addition, the use of renewable materials contributes to sustainability. The all-electric concept vehicle is inspired by the motorsport DNA known from the current Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 competition car.

Michal Hrabánek, Head of Škoda Motorsport, comments: “The Škoda Enyaq RS Race is more than a design study. It’s a preview on future technologies and shows how Škoda Motorsport infuses our RS road models with even more emotions. It is a concept, that demonstrates the engineering skills of the Škoda Motorsport team in technical terms while showcasing possibilities for a sustainable future of motorsport.”

The Škoda Motorsport technicians approached the design and development process of the Škoda Enyaq RS Race in the same way as with the competition cars. “Concerning handling and interior, the task for the engineering team was, to be as close as possible to our current Škoda Fabia RS Rally2”, describes Jakub Jareš, Project Manager Škoda Enyaq RS Race, in a video about the car.

The reinforced bodyshell, the roll cage, the racing seats and the six-point harnesses all comply with current FIA regulations. The interior is enhanced with a customised bio-composite dashboard. The Škoda Motorsport engineers even implemented a lever for a hydraulic handbrake – an essential accessory for every rally car.

The powertrain of the Škoda Enyaq RS Race uses the battery and the electric motors from the production model Škoda Enyaq Coupé RS, delivering 250 kW (340 PS) in its latest evolution. However, motorsport derived mechanical self-locking differentials on both axles limit wheel spin and thus guarantee maximum torque transfer to the road surface.

The design and fit of both axles of the concept car have been modified with the technology of the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 in mind: Carbon-ceramic brake discs are used on both axles. Moreover, sustainable composite materials helped to save weight: Roof, fenders, rear wing, front and rear bumper, mirrors, sills and interior components of the Škoda Enyaq RS Race are made from this innovative material. The production process is similar to that of carbon composite. But the use of flax fibres reduces carbon emissions and paves the way for sustainability in motorsport. In a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 development car displayed during Secto Rally Finland, several interior components like flooring, ventilation and dashboard are already made of flax. Further applications are being tested by Škoda Motorsport.
