Mladá Boleslav, 26 March 2025 – The Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 has entered its third full season. With more than 600 podium finishes and over 150 units sold worldwide, the latest Rally2-spec car from Mladá Boleslav is a major contender in the WRC2 category of the FIA World Rally Championship, the FIA European Rally Championship, and numerous continental and national championships. To maintain its competitive edge, Škoda Motorsport is continuously refining the car. A comprehensive package of performance-enhancing components has now been homologated and will be available to buyers of new cars as well as owners of existing Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 vehicles.
Since the introduction of the Rally2 category – previously known as R5 – in 2015, Škoda Motorsport has been a dominant force in this class of the World Rally Championship. The factory team and customer crews have accumulated over 25,000 starts and more than 7,000 podium finishes worldwide. This legacy makes the latest-generation rally car, the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, a favourite among teams, with more than 150 units sold since 2022. Drivers competing in the Fabia RS Rally2 have secured titles at the World Championship level as well as in various regional and national series.
Škoda Motorsport has continuously advanced the Fabia RS Rally2 since its initial homologation on 1 September 2022. Now, it is introducing an extensive update package aimed at improving performance, reliability, and crew comfort. In developing ‘Packet 25’, Škoda Motorsport has drawn not only on its own experience but also on feedback from twelve different rally drivers, who tested the new components over more than 4,000 kilometres in rigorous conditions.
Michal Hrabánek, Head of Škoda Motorsport, explains: “Work on a successful rally car is never finished. The Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 has enjoyed great success so far, and we are always striving to keep it at the top. That’s why we have continued developing the car since its launch. The new modifications have been thoroughly tested, proven their worth, and are now homologated by the FIA for customer use.”
‘Packet 25’ in detail
The engine-related components of ‘Packet 25’ are designed to improve the thermodynamic characteristics of the Fabia RS Rally2’s powertrain. Enhancements to the exhaust system optimise the flow of exhaust gases, improving mixture preparation and combustion. A newly optimised exhaust manifold lowers the energy required for in-cylinder gas exchange by 27%. Other modifications to the exhaust system reduce weight, and when combined with new engine management software, they contribute to a significant increase in power delivered to the wheels, as well as a more pronounced engine note.
One of the key highlights of ‘Packet 25’ is the newly developed gravel dampers, designed to withstand higher loads and improve durability on demanding gravel stages. These modifications include changes to the damper reservoir and several internal components, including seals, while maintaining the original damper weight. Enhanced rear upright protection extends the lifespan of the driveshaft boots, brake callipers, and brake cooling hoses. Additionally, newly developed suspension uniball seals significantly extend the running time of the uniballs, reducing overall running costs for customers.
The most significant comfort innovation is a redesigned roof vent, which improves airflow into the cabin while optimising filtration and preventing water from entering the cockpit. Additionally, new racing seats, approximately 2 kg lighter per unit, help lower the car’s centre of gravity.
Škoda Motorsport remains committed to providing its customer teams with the best possible tools to compete successfully at all levels. With ‘Packet 25’, the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 receives a comprehensive update to ensure the Czech brand and its partners maintain their competitive advantage.
