As part of the Octavia's upgrade, the top-of-the-range version has been improved, and it's certainly not just about cosmetic changes. The new Octavia RS comes with a range of improvements that will bring drivers even more driving excitement!
The popular Octavia RS model has been reinterpreting its character since 2000, so that the driver behind the wheel can clearly recognise the Škoda motorsport DNA. It's not just about speed and engine power. The charm of the modern RS road models lies in their unique combination of dynamics, comfort and practicality. That's where the Octavia RS is unrivalled. Over time, the third and fourth generations of this model in particular have, without sacrificing everyday usability, begun to focus more on the experience behind the wheel, with a clearer reference to the Škoda Motorsport team's success on the world rally circuits. Both generations had even sportier chassis geometry and more direct responses to steering commands. Suddenly, the RS was the car you had a great ride in on your favourite district road. And the updated Octavia RS continues that trend.
More dynamic driving performance
Two important innovations in particular help to give the car a more dynamic performance. The first one is the revised engine. The modernised Škoda Octavia RS comes exclusively with a 2.0 TSI engine with 195 kW (265 hp), which is 15 kW more than before. The torque figure remains at 370 Nm. The engine is always mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The engine is not only powerful, but also efficient, thanks to the use of the Budack cycle, which reduces the engine compression ratio in lower load modes thanks to modified timing, thus effectively reducing fuel consumption.
The second new feature is a 15 millimetre reduction in the standard sports suspension. As any racing engineer will tell you, the lower ground clearance helps the car's handling and stability. Exemplary traction is then provided by the standard electronically controlled VAQ limited-slip differential on the front axle. The Octavia RS will also be fitted with original sports exhausts with black tips as standard. The new engine software increases the revs on take-off in sport mode and brings even more driving pleasure. The LED Matrix headlights will also be a new standard, with a 40% increase in light output.
Rich equipment already a standard
The new Octavia also retains the characteristic exterior features of the RS models. The Škoda grille, window frames and side mirrors are painted in high-gloss black, as are the roof rails on the Octavia RS Combi. Black is also used on the front bumper, which has been given a sharper and sportier touch. It makes the front end of the new Octavia RS look particularly dynamic. Black also dominates the interior. A 13-inch central display and navigation system are standard, as is an automatically retractable boot lid in the Combi version. The dashboard trim is covered in neoprene and has double rows of contrast stitching in red.
The front sports-trimmed seats are equipped with electric adjustment, memory function and seat depth adjustment as standard. In the Octavia RS, they also offer an adjustable lumbar support and massage function as standard.
